So, last night was the big day for Harvest Moon fans because Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness came out in stores… and, as such, the Internet.

I had blogged earlier about my anticipation for this game and, in a complete separate blog, I talked about uTorrent and torrents.  As Google would have it, I obviously had a torrent for Harvest Moon. (note: no, I don’t).

I hope every finds what they are looking for, though, so they can enjoy this game 🙂 Happy Hunting!

I’ve been using Winamp since the good ol’days of when Napster first came out.  I suppose that dates me, but whatevs.

There have been a few different audio players that I have tried out.

  1. The then-high-styled eye-candy Sonique was pretty with its animations.  A bit too la-de-da for me, though.
  2. Media Player Classic, which is rather small and greatly supported due it being open source.  A good choice if you want an all-in-one media player.
  3. The VERY popular VLC Media Player, which is also open source, is available for almost any flavour of operating system you have.  It also allows you to play a lot of media without having to install external codecs.
  4. iTunes. Ugh, for Apple to get some things so ‘right’, they really dropped the ball on this bloated-buggy pile.  Granted, I’ve never used it on a Mac (of which I’m sure it runs flawlessly).
  5. Windows Media Player is okay, but I always find myself fighting with codecs to get them to work.

Now today brings me to a new program: XM Play. It is only 350KB when ‘installed’.  I say ‘installed’ because the program is portable and doesn’t need to actually be installed.

XMPlay is an audio player, supporting the OGG / MP3 / MP2 / MP1 / WMA / WAV / CDA / MO3 / IT / XM / S3M / MTM / MOD / UMX audio formats, and PLS / M3U / ASX / WAX playlists. A load more formats are also supported via plugins. When XMPlay was first released in 1998, only the XM format was supported, hence the name “XMPlay”.
Description from

From the moment I first opened the program, everything was very fast.  The options that I wanted where easy to find (i.e. Only in System Tray and Global Hot Keys).

SO FAR, I would recommend this program because it’s fast, free and it works.

Seriously.  We have two printers at the office.  One for cost-effect and high-volume black and white prints and one for snazzy colour prints using Solid Ink.

So please, Mrs. Office Administrator / Secretary (whatever you wish to be called, we know what you are), use the right one!

Don’t print a bunch of black and whites on the colour printer.  I brought the prints to your desk and asked why you did that and what did you reply? “Because I wanted to.”

Although the site is in Chinese, this pics speak plenty, if not thousands, or words!

Apparently, someone got a hold of Fallout 3 and started uploading some screenshots of the game being played on a television.

A recent upgrade in uTorrent has been released.  Even though v1.8 has been around for a bit, a new build came out on August 13th.

— 2008-08-13: Version 1.8 (build 11813)
– Fix: do not check routing for IPs when a proxy is in use
– Fix: replace backslashes in file paths for multifile URL seeding with forward slashes
– Fix: incorrect bencode key sorting on keys where one is a subset of the other

Now, I’m just curious. How do YOU say uTorrent?

  1. YOU-Torrent
  2. Micro-Torrent
  3. Mu-Torrent

I used to say MicroTorrent until a bunch of EVERYONE started using YOU-Torrent — Including the author[1] of uTorrent.

Besides, uTorrent is much easier to type than Start>Run>Charmap>Search/EyeStrain>Copy>Paste-Torrent.  You know what I’m talkin’ about.

There are a couple video games that I am looking forward to this month.

Too Human – Xbox 360 – Action RPG – August 19th, 2008

Too Human seems to be a good ol’fashioned dungeon crawler with loot and action.  Some have even described it as World of Warcraft + Devil May Cry… obviously an equation for a great game.

Even though preliminary reviews are somewhat ‘weak’ or ‘average’ at best.   I guess I should download the demo and try it out… but I want to full experience!

Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness – Nintendo DS – Farm/Dating Sim – August 26, 2008

Because it’s addicting and, sometimes, mindless fun.  I’ve enjoyed the previous Harvest Moon games but I have never really completed them fully… I don’t have myself THAT much.

I’ve always liked Tycoon-ish games like this.  Especially ever since I played the best game ever: Transport Tycoon Deluxe.

Hmm, a lot of DRAMA today in the scene reporting business.  Apparently one of the ‘editors’ at rlslog went [high and mighty] or [rogue and power hungry] depending on what story you want to believe.

Personally? There many places to check out what the ‘scene’ is up to so, to me, a bit of extra information about a release isn’t that important.

Give me a robot that says, “AWESOME_MOVIE_SCREENER_PBJ27”, and that’s fine with me. Oh yeah, that exists — It’s called RSS/ATOM.

I’ve been following a developing news story about a bloody stabbing/murder and POSSIBLE beheading.  Put your regional stereotypes aside because this was in Canada.

Full Story

Seriously? Random murder on a cross-country bus? Greyhound will probably have to lower their prices to keep business up.  How can someone be so messed up?

Then I started to think about HOW messed up someone has to be to behead someone with a “Rambo” knife.  I don’t care how excessively sharp that knife is, it’s going to take a lot of elbow-grease to get all-the-way-through. That’s a lot of rage.

Movies and television would tell us that the motive is probably an act of revenge over money or women.

I’m waiting for the investigation/trial to hear what the connection was between the victim and the attacker.
